Technology & Life Sciences

At Sullivan & Company, we frequently work with technology and life sciences clients in all phases of business from start-ups to mature entities to thriving international companies. Our clients’ pursuits span pharmaceuticals, software, telecommunications, chemicals, lasers and robotics … to name a few.

We recognize the critical issues and unique financial accounting principles that impact the technology and life sciences sector in the ever changing tax landscape. We regularly identify research-and-development tax incentives and advise clients on how to maximize benefits from research-and-development expenditures. In one particular instance, we unlocked millions of dollars of tax benefits by creatively applying the utilization of research expenditures for an international laser device company.

Our CPAs are also business advisors who go beyond the traditional accounting realm. We work with clients to structure governmental contracts that fund development, we prepare projections to obtain financing and other grants, and we work with clients to obtain private equity funding from serious investors for high-level projects. In fact, we recently assisted a client in a private equity deal that raised close to $1.2 million to further the client’s mission to bring fledging pharmaceuticals to market.

Several of our professionals are active as members of the Rhode Island Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Brown Forum for Enterprise.
