Patrick B. McAssey, CPA
Principal

Patrick McAssey works with the firm’s health care clients such as skilled nursing facilities, retirement communities, and residential programs for the developmentally disabled, often resolving disputes in field audits conducted by third-party insurers and the Rhode Island Department of Human Services.

He works closely with clients in the preparation of cost reports, rate submissions and appeals, and, on a proactive basis, to develop operating budgets, projections and forecasts. Pat provides hands-on training to client personnel on the maintenance of Medicare statistics and billing techniques. He also oversees annual audits of financial statements and electronic submission of companies that have obtained insured financing from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Pat spearheads the firm’s team for Employee Retirement Income and Security Act (ERISA) audits and is active in the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants. He recently led a client roundtable seminar entitled: "Keeping Your 401K Plan Out Of Fiduciary Trouble." He works with a wide array of firm clients on 401(k) audits, 403(b) audits and other retirement and pension plan compliance audits.  

A member of  Leading Age Rhode Island, Pat also serves on the Audit Committee for the Rhode Island Quality Institute, a diverse group of senior leaders developing innovative strategies to improve health care.
 
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Pat holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He is active in youth sports, serving on the boards for the Smithfield Little League and the Northern Rhode Island Youth Hockey League.
